Homemade Beard Oil Recipe With Lavender & Patchouli
There’s a common misconception that beards are itchy, scratchy, and not very fun to kiss! But that doesn’t have to be true, as the quality of your beard simply depends on how you take care of it. With the right nourishing oils, you can tame fluffiness, soften texture and coarseness, and moisturize your skin underneath.
This recipe is great to add to your beard care routine and will leave your beard smelling deliciously earthy, thanks to the musky patchouli, and offer a sense of calm, due to the stress-reducing properties of lavender.
Tea tree oil is included because it’s a great natural antiseptic, helping keep your beard clean and protected from unpleasant bacteria. The option to add pine essential oil will offer a just-showered scent, leaving you feeling fresh and pampered.
- 3/4 cup sweet almond oil
- 1/2 cup avocado oil
- 1/2 cup jojoba oil
- 1 tsp tea tree oil
- 2-3 tbsp dried lavender
- 2-3 tbsp dried patchouli
- Empty amber colored glass dropper bottles (the amber colored glass will help keep your beard oil fresh)
- Optional: A few drops of pine essential oil, for a really fresh, aromatic scent
Roughly chop your lavender and patchouli, then pack the LĒVO Herb Pod with a combined 3-5 tbsp mixture, making sure it’s at least halfway full.
Place the Herb Pod inside the LĒVO reservoir and make sure the silicone stirrer is placed correctly at the bottom. Pour in the sweet almond oil, avocado oil, and jojoba oil.
Select the Infuse Cycle and set it to 175ºF for 30 minutes.
Once finished, dispense into a clean, easy-pour container. Leave to cool.
Add the tea tree oil and optional pine essential oil to the container holding your LĒVO infusion and mix well.
Pour the beard oil into your glass dropper, storing any excess in a sealed container in a dark, cool place until you’re ready to refill your dropper.
Another option is to use the oil as a gift for bearded friends and loved ones! Just buy a few more amber-colored droppers of your choice, and perhaps even label them, and your gift is all set.
To use, drop 2-3 drops (or as needed) into your palms and work through your beard using just your fingers.
LĒVO herbal tip: If you have another favorite scent, such as rosemary, sandalwood or eucalyptus, you can always substitute the herbs recommended here with your go-to herbs. Get creative!

Beard care tip: If you’re tidying up the edges of your beard with a razor, a soothing beard balm is great for sensitive areas such as your neck and cheekbone area. Our LEVO-infused aftershave balm includes calming chamomile and moisturizing beeswax, which coats the skin in a hydrating protective layer.
